The National Student Employment Association has declared that the second full week in April each year be set aside to recognize the value of student employees and student employment professionals. 

Student Employees: Career Services would like to thank all NMU student employees. We appreciate the hard work and dedication throughout the year, but especially during National Student Employment Week! The first 75 NMU student employees to stop in the Career Services Office (3302.3 C.B. Hedgcock) April 8-12 will get a Willy bar (NMU-themed Sayklly's milk chocolate bar). 

Supervisors: The purpose of this week is to enhance awareness of student employment and its important role in the higher education experience, to recognize students who perform outstanding work while attending college, and to thank the employer, who hires students for part-time positions. Students gain tremendous benefits from their work experiences while in school, and the skills they develop help them achieve success after college and beyond. For that, we thank you! It's senior project time in the Engineering Technology Department. Seniors in both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering will be presenting their capstone projects. There will be lots to see from medical devices to clay pigeon throwers! Come out and support our students!

Leadfoot Engineering is an engineering company focused on designing power cylinder systems for internal combustion engines.  They also provide engineering consulting services for racing, aerospace and military industries.  They will be on campus to discuss their employment opportunities including internships.  If you're interested in learning more, plan to attend this session!

The UNITED Conference is Northern's day of diversity education. This conference is designed to bring both the NMU community and the greater Marquette community together to learn and dialogue around diversity, equity, & inclusion. 

This year’s conference theme is Continue the Conversation. 

UNITED 2024 will feature workshops and presentations to keep the conversations flowing about wellbeing, mental health, and connecting with effective treatment. 

Once again, UNITED features two keynote addresses. At noon, Patrick Yankee from Corktown health will discuss affirmative healthcare for the LGBTQ+ community. The 7:00pm evening keynote features Stephanie Foo, author of "What My Bones Know: A Memoir Of Healing From Complex Trauma." Stephanie will speak about her personal experiences as well as her thoughts about the science and psychology of complex PTSD. Her book is the 2023/24 selection for the NMU Diversity Common Reader Program.  

The main conference sessions will run from 8:45am to 9:00pm on Thursday, March 21, and will include keynote speakers, workshops, panel discussions, and more. The content covers wide fields of study.  

All sessions will be held in the NMU Northern Center, except for the 11:00am session "Extending Observation: Practices of Looking" which will be held in the DeVos Art Museum.

Please join us for the Wildcat WellBeing Fair (formerly health fair), now sponsored by the WellBeing Department. This annual event is open to all NMU faculty, staff, and students and will include health screenings, interactive booths led by community organizations, NMU departments, and student organizations, as well as health and wellbeing resources, freebies, and prizes. This event coincides with the UNITED conference, so consider attending both!
