Under the direction of Patrick Booth, OM (Open Mind) New Music Ensemble presents non-traditional experimental music performances. The OM Ensemble’s adventurous programming offers listeners and performers a unique music experience. Performances feature conventional and unconventional composition techniques, improvisation, and interdisciplinary collaborations with visual artists, dancers, poets, etc.

The NMU Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will be performing in Reynolds Recital Hall on Monday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. for their final concert of the season! Admission is free and open to everyone.
Students perform a piece or pieces of their choice on their instrument as a requirement of their program. Join us in Reynolds Recital Hall on Friday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m. for the fifth and final student recital of the '24-'25 school year.

NMU Music students perform a piece of their choice on their instrument to compete for scholarship awards, judged by faculty. Three awards are issued--one to each of the first, second, and third place performers. This event will take place Wednesday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free for all who would like to come to cheer on our candidates.
The 2025 NMU Jazz Festival will be held on the beautiful campus of Northern Michigan University on Thursday and Friday, March 20-21. High school and middle school jazz bands from throughout the region will participate in a variety of performances and clinics, and an exciting evening performance will showcase NMU students, faculty, and guest clinicians.
This year's festival will feature drummer Matt Wilson, who has released thirteen albums as a leader, appeared on more than 400 others as a sideman, and has played with an impressive array of some of the most legendary names in jazz. He is a fantastic drummer, bandleader, and educator, and we are very happy that he will be joining us for this year's event. NMU students, staff, faculty and members of the Marquette community can pop-in for one piece or stay for the entire noon hour concert in NMU's Reynolds Recital Hall: Tuesday January 28, 2025 12 pm.
Performers will include Dr. Theresa Camilli (piano), Adam Hall (cello), and Danielle Simandl (violin) who comprise the Superior String Alliance Chamber Players! More info can be found at superiorstringalliance.org.
