NMU Giving Day: April 17, 2025

NMU Giving Day: April 17, 2025

Alumni

Join us for NMU Giving Day on April 17, 2025, as we come together to support students and the departments, programs, and teams that make our Northern community special.

As NMU’s 125th anniversary celebration comes to a close, we have one final challenge—surpassing the 560 donors who helped us kick it off last year. Can we do it, Wildcats? Let’s show just how Wild we are for NMU!

This year’s theme, Give to What You Love, celebrates your personal connections and deep pride that make NMU a place like no other. This is your chance to make a direct impact on the causes you’re passionate about, whether it's student experiences, research, athletics, or one of the many departments that shape the Wildcat experience. Every gift, no matter the size, helps create a stronger, more vibrant university.

Together on April 17, it’s our chance to uplift our Wildcat community and show that at NMU, north never wavers.

30 Years Later: Remembering Haywire

Part of NMU's 125th Anniversary Celebration

Friday, April 4 at 7:30PM
1100 Jamrich Hall

In the spring of 1995, the Forest Roberts Theatre’s production of Haywire achieved national acclaim, being selected as one of only five productions—out of more than 900 submissions—to perform at the Kennedy Center’s American College Theatre Festival. This original musical, depicting life in an 1880s logging camp, was penned by NMU theatre professor Dr. Shelley Russell, with an original score composed by NMU music professor Dr. Rob Engelhart.

As part of NMU’s 125th Anniversary Celebration, the NMU Department of Theatre and Dance, in collaboration with the Department of Communication and Media Studies, will commemorate the 30th anniversary of this distinguished production. Join us on Friday, April 4, at 7:30 PM in 1100 Jamrich Hall for a special program that will honor the creators and feature selected scenes and musical numbers from the production by alumni and current students. We welcome the NMU and Upper Peninsula community to share in this evening of storytelling, music, and celebration.

The event is a fundraiser for the NMU students selected to compete in this year’s American College Theatre’s regional showcases. Tickets are Pay as you May and are available now at tickets.nmu.edu

UNITED Conference

NMU Logo on bricks

Alumni

For nearly two decades, Northern Michigan University has proudly brought together students, faculty, staff, and community members through the annual UNITED Conference: Uniting Neighbors in the Experience of Diversity. Since its inception, UNITED has served as a cornerstone event to advance justiceequitydiversity, and inclusion (JEDI) on campus and in the broader Marquette community.

It is a platform for learning, sharing, and fostering meaningful dialogue that promotes understanding across identities and experiences.

This year’s theme, "Voices of the Earth: Learning, Leading, and Advancing Equity Together," centers the interconnectedness between environmental justice and social equity. It reminds us that addressing climate change and sustainability must include justice for the marginalized communities disproportionately affected by environmental degradation.

We're looking for passionate educators, activists, students, and leaders to present at this year's conference.
