Olson Library, Department of English, Department of Languages, Literatures and International Studies, Department of Political Science, Marquette Great Start Family Coalition, Social Work Department, Department of Sociology & Anthropology, and the Anthropology Club.
This workshop encourages participants to rethink conflict and to become involved in civil discourse with people outside of their own social and political circles. By practicing respectful conversation, even when there is disagreement, people are more likely to identify common ground and to come to a deeper understanding of others' perspectives. We will learn about the psychology of attitude change and persuasion, and learn some techniques to engage in conversations with people with whom we may not agree.
This event is part of Environmental Action Week.
Collectively, we’ll examine institutional structures and interrogate power relations to identify leverage points in systems that manifest environmental injustices. This workshop seeks to empower change agents whose goals are catalyzing social transformation towards equity and sustainability.
